In a September 2026 Branson Globe conversation, local history keepers Jim Holt and Ken Henderson connected the name to Fitzhugh Reed and the spring. The article attributes the town’s formal organization in 1906 to the Stone County Historical Genealogical Society and Museum. The speakers did not settle when the apostrophe disappeared from “Reed’s Spring.”
